About Dr. Francisco T. Carlos, DMD, MSD, PC

Dr. Francisco T. Carlos is a board-certified periodontist at Northern Virginia Periodontics, serving patients in Alexandria, Falls Church, and the greater Northern Virginia and Washington, DC areas.

Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Carlos earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from the College of the Holy Cross in 2003. He received his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2007, then completed his periodontal certification and Master’s degree at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010.

After his periodontal training, Dr. Carlos served as a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force. During his service, he treated active-duty military members and taught periodontics to advanced education in general dentistry residents.

Dr. Carlos has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology since May 11, 2012. His advanced certifications include Wilckodontics® Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics™, LANAP®, the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique, and the S.M.A.R.T. Minimally Invasive Bone Grafting Method.

He is also a Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry and a co-founder and co-leader of the Northern Virginia Periodontics Synergy Study Series, Spear Study Club, and Hygiene Study Series.
